What is an Air Operator Certificate (AOC)?
An Air Operator Certificate (AOC) is the formal approval issued by an aviation authority that allows a company to operate commercial air transport services.
In practice, an AOC confirms that:
- The operator has approved safety management systems and procedures.
- Aircraft are maintained and inspected in line with regulations.
- Pilots and crew meet training, experience, and medical standards.
- Operations are continuously overseen by the relevant authority.
If you are flying for hire or reward, you should be flying with an AOC-certified operator.
How operators are vetted on JetSet Direct Link
Before an operator can publish flights on JetSet Direct Link, they must:
- Provide details of their AOC and operating company.
- Confirm the regions and types of operations they are authorised to perform.
- Confirm that they carry appropriate insurance for passengers and operations.
We use this information to:
- Verify that the operator is a professional charter company, not a casual owner.
- Align routes and marketing with their approved operating scope.
- Present you with clear, consistent information about who is actually flying the aircraft.
Who is responsible for what?
On every flight booked through JetSet Direct Link:
The operator is responsible for:
- Flight safety and airworthiness
- Aircraft maintenance and inspections
- Pilot and crew competence and training
- Compliance with aviation regulations and operational decisions on the day
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate passenger information and any special requirements
- Complying with travel documentation, visa, and customs requirements
- Arriving at the agreed FBO or terminal in good time
JetSet Direct Link is responsible for:
- Connecting you with AOC-verified operators
- Making it clear that your contract for carriage is with the operator
- Providing a secure enquiry, booking, and payment flow
- Helping document and route any post-flight feedback or issues
Payment processing and disputes
Flights booked through JetSet Direct Link use a Stripe-powered payment flow.
That means:
- You pay through the platform, not via ad-hoc bank transfers.
- Funds are held and then released to the operator after the flight, minus platform fees.
- There is a record of the transaction, route, and operator.
The operator remains responsible for operating the flight safely and in line with regulations. We provide the digital rails that make the commercial side simpler and more transparent.
